The Lakota have a phrase used at the end of a prayer, Mitakuye Oyasin, "all my relations". It is used to remind us that we are all connected and that strength and guidance during our challenges can come from within our extended family.
We are part of a larger family. We are not separate from nature and the earth but a part of them. Our human experiences are not different. Any organism in a system has similar challenges. At a time when we are increasingly turning to nature for answers as to how to live in a sustainable manner and in concert with the earth, this concept takes you another step. More than learning to meditate in the quiet of natural beauty, there are visible answers to our challenges. One only need to understand how to identify them.
There is comfort to be found, solace to be received, peace to be achieved, strength to be derived, and friends with whom to walk the journey.
Geo-Concurrence TM - having the same experience as is present in the earth and nature. Geo-concurrence is a coined phrase to demonstrate the similarities in the natural world and the human experience. As we face an emotion or a challenge in our daily lives, the same experience is occurring somewhere within the earth's vast membership whether with a river, a flower, the moon, or the wind.
We truly do have sisters and grandmothers, brothers and uncles, who can show us the lessons of life. They may not look like us, but they have experiences that we can relate to if we only learn to identify with our relatives and share the common experience. Let's go meet the Relatives! Enjoy!
